Installing artificial intelligence in a business can be done in two ways. You can integrate it into the core of your systems. You can also set it alongside them. Integrating means connecting the AI to the customer database and the business tools. It also takes over the historical data, in proprietary formats. Setting it alongside means installing an external harness. It connects to what already exists, without changing it. And it stays detachable. Koaee has chosen the harness, and calls this approach "forward engineering". The term comes from software engineering. It means building forwards. Building forwards starts from the process as it runs today. You don't deconstruct what exists in order to reproduce it. You build outwards. The consequence is concrete. Nothing of what exists is rebuilt to make room for the tool. The website stays the website. The booking database stays the database. What is added is a layer of conversation, placed on top. It reads what it is given to read. It writes nowhere else. Deep integration is not a trap that has been set. It is a commercial slope. The more a system is connected, the more useful it becomes. And the more costly it becomes to leave. Every connector added is an immediate gain. It is also a dependency further down the line. The cost of leaving is paid the day you want to change your mind. This slope always leaves the same marks. Data reformatted into a proprietary model. Business rules rewritten inside the supplier's tool. Consider the day you want to change tools. With deep integration, you have to disconnect, bring the data back, then rewrite the rules left inside the tool. With the external harness, the same change comes down to a single move. You remove one line of script. The next day's website is the same as the day before's. A promise of reversibility is only worth anything if you can test it. Here are three questions to put to any supplier. The first: how do you leave? The assistant is installed through one line of script, on the pages where it appears. It is removed by deleting that line. It has installed nothing anywhere else. Second question: where does the data go? Koaee's servers are in Germany, in Frankfurt. But the language processing does not stay there entirely. Text runs on Mistral. For French and English, so do listening and the voice. On those two languages, everything stays in Europe. Third question: who owns the rules? The instructions that govern the assistant are an asset of the client. They are written in readable text, not in an interface. Those choices can change, and that is the whole point. Since nothing was melted into the client's systems, swapping a model asks nothing of them. The European regulation on AI requires transparency. The person must know they are speaking to a machine. That is simpler when the assistant is an identifiable layer. An external harness only sees what it is shown. That is a real limitation.
